Tips To Flatter Your Facial Shape With Eyeglasses

Ben Franklin wore eyeglasses. Elton John wears eyeglasses. Both men are celebrities in their own right – both men have had very recognizable eyeglasses.

The difference being Ben Franklin had little selection to choose from when he needed glasses to see – his glasses became synonymous with his image. Elton John created an image and a personality to go with his eyeglasses. So, how do you find the PERFECT pair of eyeglasses? There are a few things rarely thought about in order to find that perfect pair.

Facial Shape

Most people barely consider their facial shape to be an issue when getting their hair cut and styled – but their hairdresser knows better. So, why should you consider your facial shape in order to buy a pair of eyeglasses? Like a hair cut gone wrong, glasses can also skew your appearance.

Oval faces are unique in that any frame will flatter their shape but only if the size of the frame is proportionate to the size of the face. Make a square face softer by wearing rounded or curved frames that sit up a bit higher in order to downplay the chin – thin metal is an optimum choice but thinner plastic will work well too! On the opposite side, round faces should choose frames that are more angular or have straight lines in a black or tortoise shell color to minimize fullness. Round-shaped faces should also avoid round frames at all costs.

Oblong faces – long and narrow – need frames that minimize the length of the face and cover the center of the face. Aim for triangular shaped or rounder shaped frames to shorten the face or wide rectangular frames to maximize width of the face. Oblong faces should also choose frames with embellishment towards the sides or frames in bold colors to broaden the face. If your temples are a bit on the wide side, your diamond or triangular shaped face should be adorned with smaller geometric or oval frames that sit lower on the face to minimize the distance between your temples.

Nose shape

If your nose is large, it’s OK – just be sure to pick slightly oversized frames to balance the face. Smaller frames will make the nose look bigger. Small noses require a high bridge to lengthen the nose and make it proportionate to the face. If you have a lo 1000 ng nose, select frames with high arms to draw attention away from the length of the nose and toward the temples – rimless frames are perfect for executing this properly. To minimize a long nose, try glasses with a double bridge – like the aviator style.

These are not rules – mostly suggestions in finding the right eyeglasses for you. When buying a frame, remember to add your personality to it! Colors are a great way to show the world what YOU want to show them. Black portrays sophistication and mystery, while gray and silver show a cultured and educated person. Light pinks and purples are innocent and feminine but violet is the color of royalty while being subtly sexy. Blues and green give off a calm-air and make you look approachable. Red is bold, sexy, and powerful but should not be worn by the meek and timid. What ever look you want to portray – color is a key ingredient! Colors add personality to your frame and make them fashionable – so don’t be afraid to try out new colors with newer styles!

Use these tips as suggestions but make sure you play around and have fun with different frames – you never know until you try!

What Are The Most Comfortable Eyeglasses On The Market?

Comfort is an individual thing, for instance, some people wear contacts because they don’t enjoy having to worry about glasses. On the other hand, the idea of putting something in their eyes makes some people squeamish and they can’t fathom wearing anything but eyeglasses.

Yet, even those who make that choice to wear specs agree that glasses can be a bit cumbersome at times. The shape at the bridge is the most important aspect of determining comfort and is where the source of aggravation often stems. These types of glasses often leave red marks on the nose because they grip too tightly. This can make them very hard to wear.

More often than not, such frames are made out of plastic, this doesn’t mean that plastic frames will always be uncomfortable, in fact, some designer names are stamped on plastic frames.
Which leaves the question of what types of eyeglasses offer the most comfort to those who chose glasses over contacts?

Plastic eyeglasses

Plastic eyeglasses are economical, stylish and above all, they can be comfortable when made correctly. How comfortable? Well, this can largely depend on the make, model and style of the frames. For example, cat eye frame glasses are said to be easy to wear, whereas larger, boxier frames are heavier and harder to keep from sliding. Constantly having to push glasses up can be awkward and far from comfortable. Plastic isn’t the only material that glasses are made out of though. It is these other materials that often offer greater comfort than plastic can.

Metal

Believe it or not, metal frames tend to be lighter on the face than plastic eyeglasses, making them far more comfortable. This is because the frames are thinner and have less bulk. They can also form into more pleasing and fashionable shapes making them a preferred choice among eye glass wearers.

Titanium

Titanium eyes glasses can run a bit on the expensive side if you get true titanium glasses that are well made and not imitation. The expense is not without cause! Titanium eye glasses are generally light weight, corrosion resistant and can take being sat on! They can also give a snug fit on the nose, keeping them from slipping. This feature is one of many aspects that enhance comfort for the wearer. They are al 1000 so extremely sturdy and come in a large variety of shapes and colors.

‘Memory-Metal’ Flexon

A revolutionary product, memory metal Flexon glasses are feather light and can be bent a variety of angles. This makes them super durable. It also makes them super comfortable! Because the metal bends ad expands it can shape around the bridge of the nose. Over time, the glasses will ‘remember’ the exact shape of your bridge, so that they sit there undisturbed until you take them off. No more pushing your glasses back into place 101 times a day! Out of all the above glasses, true Flexon memory metal is the highest, with frames starting in at around $80.00 and springing upwards towards the higher end hundreds.
Not be confused with pure titanium glasses, memory metal mixes titanium and nickel. This metal alloy creation becomes pliable yet sturdy. It will convert to its original shale no matter how many times it is bent. This not only means that clumsy people won’t have to worry about accidentally harming their glasses; it means that these light, pliable frames are extremely comfortable to wear.

Purchasing eye glasses is such a personal choice however. This is why alongside other considerations, like affordability, style, and what the eyeglasses say about you, comfort is an issue. Indeed, buying your designer frames is an important decision which, for a number of reasons, should never be entered into lightly.

Tips To Help You Choose The Perfect Eyeglasses

Choosing the perfect eyeglasses is very important for a number of reasons. First of all, the frame must fit your face properly. Everyone’s face is different in shape and size, so the eyeglasses have to cover the eyes properly.

If not, a person’s eyesight can be compromised. The lenses do not fit around the eyes in the best way they can. Second, the eyeglasses do not look right if their color and their shape are not correct, making them look odd on a person’s face.

Another reason to have eyeglasses that are perfect is because glasses are not really so dreadful to wear nowadays. They have become smaller, but individuals do adapt to their small size in a short period of time. Glasses are seen as a way to make a person look intelligent and have actually become a fashion statement in many sectors.

How to choose the perfect eyeglasses

Choosing eyeglasses is not something to make a rash decision on. Here are some tips to help you choose the perfect eyeglasses:

– Look at the features of your face – Glasses accentuate certain features, so you don’t want to accentuate the wrong ones. If you have nice features that are not very "loud," then you can choose eyeglasses that will bring out those features. If you have features you want to make a little more subtle, then your glasses should only bring out those things that you want them to bring out.

– Pay attention to your colors – Individuals have different hair color, eye color, and skin color. It is important that the glasses go with your coloring. If you have red hair and freckles, you may not want to invest in bright red glasses. Those with dark skin should go with a lighter pair of glasses. Those with lighter skin should go a bit darker. Think of it as a scale from lightest to darkest and then classify the colors of glasses in the same way while examining the glasses that you like.

– Branded vs. unbranded – It is true that branded eyeglasses are of a better quality such as Gucci eyeglasses or Juicy Couture eyeglasses. As for what brand you buy is going to depend on how much money is in your wallet. Don’t buy a pair of eyeglasses just because they are a brand. Make sure that you’re buying a pair of glasses 1000 that looks good on your face.

– Selecting the lenses – Selecting the lenses can actually be difficult. This is because there are many options when it comes to lenses. Those options include: the option to have thick lenses thinned out, anti-glare coatings, tinting, and so much more. The establishment you’re buying from will review all of your options with you. However, only purchase those options that you feel you need because the lenses can become more expensive than the glasses if too many unnecessary options are chosen.

These are the most common and most important things to consider when choosing your glasses. In terms of having lenses thinned out, this can be very important in your decision as to what frame to choose. This is because the thickness of a lens can severely compromise the appearance of the frame. If you have a high prescription that result in very thick lenses, this is an option you may want to consider in order to make your glasses look better on your face.

Be careful

Being that many individuals are committed to wearing the same pair of glasses for a year to two years, it is important to be careful about what frame is chosen. Make sure no rash decisions are made, that you’re not heavily influenced by the person who is selling you the frames unless seeking their opinion about styling, and that the glasses fit.

Eyeglasses in an Hour: Is the Mark Up Worth it?

Shopping for glasses these days is enough to leave anyone in a daze. You have to navigate what seems like an endless labyrinth of choices.

eyeglass frames

There are often thousands of different frames and a confusing list of different lens types and coatings. When you multiply this by all the places you can get your eyeglasses, it gets complicated quickly. Many of these places even offer one hour eyeglasses for the time crunched buyer. But, is that really a luxury that you need to pay for? In our opinion it isn’t, and we’ve found that many shoppers spend more than they should for this minor perk. In most cases, you will overpay for this service, and cost is the biggest complaint that most of our readers have voiced.

In fact, Consumer Reports recently surveyed over 90,000 eyeglasses shoppers, and although 75 percent of shoppers were satisfied with there purchase, only 50% were happy with the price they paid. This is a disturbing trend that has grown in the past few years. With the recent increase in large stores offering one hour eyeglasses, this satisfaction seems to be going down. All while price goes up of course.

In our research though, we’ve found that it doesn’t have to be that way. It is possible to get a great deal on your eyeglasses if your willing to stay out of the mall chain one hour eyeglasses places. This will also cut down on some of the sales pressure you’re likely to encounter as you can go shopping armed with what you want (and more importantly, what you need) already decided. Before heading out to your eye doctor’s office, it would be a good idea to at least be familiar with some of the different lenses, coatings, and edge treatments so you aren’t overwhelmed with the many choices.

This information will also give you a starting point for asking your what you should look for to ensure that you aren’t sold unnecessary upgrades that you don’t need. For example, many shops will recommend that all glasses wearers opt for additional UV protective coatings or high index polycarbonate lenses, which in many cases aren’t necessary. These options do provide a nice markup for the store though.

Many of the shady chains will also prey on under informed consumers pushing them toward much more expensive options such as progressive or "no line" bifocals even if there are other, high quality alternatives that may be less expensive. The best way to combat this is to speak with your eye doctor before shopping to find out what you actually need. This small step can save you quite a bit of money and frustration. If your doctors office includes an eyeglass store, feel free to look, but don’t feel as though you have to purchase there. According to Federal law, you are allowed to have your glasses prescription filled anywhere.

On our eyeglasses shopping excursions, we’ve found that the cost of prescription varies dramatically. For example, shopping at a local LensCrafters store had us paying about double for options available elsewhere. For example, a plain Jane polycarbonate (CR-39) lens cost roughly $120 before any discounts. This is several times more costly than the same frame at a local Costco store or online from a dealer such as Zenni Optical. We found similar pricing differences more most options and coatings too. For example, if we wanted to add on an anti-reflective coating LensCrafters required us to upgrade to their FeatherWates polycarbonate lens for a whopping $240! For comparison, a similar lens at online retailer Zenni Optical is a $41.95 upgrade and $80 at our local Costco. This is over a 300% price difference that the average shopper is paying just to get their one hour eyeglasses. This seems a bit steep for such a small convenience.

This pricing difference is only multiplied if you are interested in fashion eyeglass frames. This can push your costs up by hundreds of dollars. Many of these frames are all made by the same manufacturers though, and the designers just license the frame and put their names on. This means that duplicate frames are available at several other shops for significantly less money. Many of the top manufacturers (like Charmont and Luxottica) have several options that are just like their designer counterparts for much less money. This is also a situation where online retailers can save you loads money. These retailers carry all the same manufacturers lines, but at significantly discounted prices. Many retailers routinely have specials offering inexpensive metal eyeglasses frames for $20 or less. In fact, online retailer Zenni Optical routinely offers packages (lenses & frames) for $8! This is an absolute steal for what you get, and a great way to test the waters or get an extra set of glasses to keep as a spare pair. It takes a few days to get your order, but who wouldn’t wait a couple days to save $250? We sure would. These are some of the savings available to you if you don’t need one hour eyeglasses.

Repair Tips for Fixing Those Broken Eyeglass Frames

If you’re one of the millions in the US who wear eyeglasses, then I’m sure you’ve had the unfortunate experience of having them easily broken or something randomly becoming loose.

I know I’m lucky to have. I think that everyone who wears or has worn glasses, has gone through that. Let’s face it, sooner or later our eyeglasses will break and we will need to repair them.

It’s so frustrating sometimes that you just want to throw them as far as you can. Even the most expensive, well built designs don’t survive the simplest of accidents. While fixing them may be annoying and frustrating, it is still pretty easy. All it takes is an inexpensive eyeglass repair kit, and you can perform minor repairs on eyeglass frames. Here are a few simple to follow steps for you the next time you are stuck fixing your eyeglasses yourself:

  • Before you can fix what’s wrong you need figure out what’s wrong. I recommend using a nice magnifying glass to try and find the problem which is in need of repair. Most of the time, the problem is small and difficult to see such as a loose or missing screw or a broken hinge on an arm.
  • Ok, let’s say you found the issue and it’s a stretched out hinge. To repair this, you first will get a pair of needle nose pliers and cover the tips of it to bend the hinge gently back into place. Covering the tips of the pliers prevents the lenses and frame from becoming scratched or damaged. A very small rubber band or rubber ring, found in many eyeglass repair kits, can also hold a loose hinge in place.
  • Perhaps a screw is loose on your eyeglass frame. This is fixed by tightening the screw with one of those tiny screwdrivers that come in eyeglass repair kits. If you can’t get your hands on one of these screwdrivers, you can get away with using the tip of a paring knife to serve the same purpose. After you have tightened the screw up in the frame, I find that dabbing a little clear nail polish on the hinge screw will hold it firmly in place. Remember to let the polish dry before putting the glasses back on.
  • Let’s say not only is the screw loose but it is now lost. Buy an eyeglass repair kit and replace the screw with one of the screws found in the kit. Miniature safety pins can also work by slipping into the screw hole and closing the pin. Never force the screw into the hole if it won’t fit. The last thing you want to do is strip the threads.
  • Often times with some eyeglasses the metal hinge will break from the frame. To repair this, you’ll wash both surfaces and then try to scrape as much paint or glue away. Then using a toothpick, lightly dab on some fast-bonding glue to the break. Be sure to keep the two pieces held together for about a minute or two so the glue can dry and set.
  • One final problem with eyeglass is the ear-piece slipping off the frame. Simply, re-adhere it back on with fast-bonding glue.

Once upon a time, women and men lamented getting glasses, but today, glasses can be worn by even the fashionably elite.

wearing glassesRock stars, and popular statesmen wear eyeglasses now, making them trendy and hip. Since the stigma has been eradicated, many well known companies have branched into creating spectacles that are becoming as much a staple to the wardrobe as the belt or handbag.

So, who are the names that people are wearing on their eyes nowadays? The list is quite extensive, but if you wish to play in the big leagues, you need to purchase the most fashionable eyeglasses around. Below is a list of the top five eyeglass lines that are the must have styles for winter (or really any season).

As per usual, the price tags are pretty hefty, however, you c an acquire these fairly reasonably via online shops and wholesalers.

Prada eyeglasses

Prada, a name that is synonymous with classic style, has joined the ranks of many well known and famous designers by creating their own line of fashion spectacles. Based in Italy, Prada decided to make their mark in the field of eyewear with outstandingly flawless masterpieces that embody the class and sophistication of the label.

Gucci specs

Gucci takes it eyeglass line very seriously, even devoting an entire web spread to their eyewear on their site. They offer a variety of styles as well, from aviator, to gender specific male and female frames. The most popular appear to be rimless and shield forms, which a lot of movie stars and celebrities are currently wearing. If you like to shop for deals online, Gucci even offered exclusive web based steals on some their hottest styles. Still. the price of these shades will set you back a pretty penny, even with the discounts.

A stand out amongst an industry that is dominated by Italy, Donna Karan’s eyeglasses are light, fun and less pretentious than other offerings. Innovative styles, creative designs, sleek sophisticated lines dominate the eyeglass line giving consumers what they want – fashionable frames that are functional and great for everyday use.

Christian Dior

Christian Dior has made an art out of franchising the name, and thereby, the company knew just how to market their one of kind brand of eyewear. The most sassy and beautiful of the eye wear lines; CD eyeglasses offer style and comfort. Women cannot help but fall in love with the svelte and gorgeous lines of the women’s collection. Men’s eyewear was also stylish and masculine; complimenting the more rugged features of a male while giving a crisp air of refinement.

For those of you who can’t afford the name brands, ‘legal knock offs’ can be obtained at reputable retailers. These items don’t have the name of the designer on them; all they seek to do is emulate their given style. Still, investing in the real thing may be worth it. Designer styles tend to be classic ones, staying in vogue long after trendier lines have come and gone. As a fashion staple, they will stay the same as clothing styles and designs evolve.
